JACQUELINE TOLLADY FROM DUNDEE INVOLVED IN BRUTAL SUPERMARKET ASSAULT IN HAWKHILL

On November 11, a disturbing incident unfolded outside a Tesco supermarket located in the Hawkhill area of Dundee, involving Jacqueline Tollady, a 34-year-old woman whose actions have now led to legal proceedings.

Witnesses and CCTV footage captured the moment when Tollady engaged in a violent assault against a man, during which she forcefully threw him to the ground and proceeded to kick his head multiple times.

According to reports presented at Dundee Sheriff Court, the assault was particularly alarming because a child was present at the scene, witnessing the aggressive behavior firsthand.

The footage, which was played in court, clearly depicted the severity of the attack, prompting the sheriff to emphasize the gravity of the situation.

During the court proceedings, solicitor advocate Jane Caird stated that Tollady disputed the characterization of her actions as a “stamp,” suggesting there might be some disagreement over the nature of the assault.

Sheriff Gregor Murray, presiding over the case, expressed concern over the incident, remarking, “She’s extremely fortunate, given the force used, that there wasn’t injury or most pertinently serious injury.” Further details revealed that Tollady, who resides on Artillery Lane, had prior issues with her partner, which reportedly led to a struggle that culminated in the assault.

The fiscal depute, Sarah High, confirmed that there was a history of conflict between Tollady and her partner, adding context to the incident.

In sentencing, Sheriff Murray decided that Tollady would not face immediate imprisonment but would instead be ordered to complete 160 hours of unpaid work.

Additionally, she was placed under supervision for a period of 15 months.

The sheriff warned her that the incident’s public nature and the presence of a child significantly aggravate her case, stating, “If you do not do what I’m giving you the opportunity to do, you will go to custody.” Earlier, in December 2024, Tollady had already been warned about the seriousness of her actions.

During that hearing, she pled guilty to the assault, which involved throwing the man to the ground and stamping on his head outside the same Tesco store.

The court was told that the assault was aggravated by the fact that it involved a partner or ex-partner, further emphasizing the violent and personal nature of the attack.

Prosecutor Kate Scarborough provided a brief overview of the incident, but Sheriff Murray interrupted her when he learned that a child was present during the assault.

The sheriff underscored the importance of this detail, stating, “You can take it from me that I take any assault in the presence of a child to be a significant aggravation.

That means you’re in deep, deep trouble.” As the case moves forward, Tollady is scheduled to return to court in February, where a social work report will be considered before any further sentencing decisions are made.

The case highlights the serious consequences of violent conduct in public spaces, especially when vulnerable witnesses, such as children, are involved.
