A DOMESTIC THUG WHO SNATCHED HIS PARTNER’S PHONE AND CLAIMED TO DELETE PHOTOS OF HER DECEASED DAUGHTER
Graeme Dickson was transported from HMP Perth to Dundee Sheriff Court to receive sentencing for a series of abusive acts committed against his former partner.During the period from April to May 2020, Dickson subjected the woman to harassment at a residence in Dundee’s Ancrum Court and in other locations.
His actions included shouting, using foul language, issuing threats of violence, and preventing her from leaving the property.
Additionally, Dickson pushed the woman, which resulted in her hitting her head against a wall and sustaining an injury.
He also confiscated her phone, refused to return it, and while in possession of it, claimed to have deleted photographs of her deceased daughter.
Solicitor John Boyle noted: “There is a clear pattern of domestic offending.
Mr.
Dickson is aware of this pattern.
For the first time perhaps, he recognises the need for help.
He has spent significant time reflecting on his issues.
He understands that imprisonment is a serious possibility.
His time in custody has been beneficial to him.
Both he and the social workers involved appear motivated to address these problems.” Sheriff Alastair Carmichael mandated Dickson to complete 150 hours of unpaid work and to participate in the Caledonian Men’s Programme.
He will be under supervision for a year, and a non-harassment order will safeguard the victim for two years.
A review is scheduled for September 5, when Dickson will face sentencing for an unrelated matter.
Sheriff Carmichael stated: “You have already spent considerable time in custody.
This sentence serves as a direct alternative to imprisonment.”
