DUNDEE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER HARASSED WOMAN AFTER POSING AS HER TO GET PHONE NUMBER FROM FRIEND
Godfrey Mordente, aged 57, subjected his former partner to a harassment campaign lasting over nine months.He was issued an interdict to prevent him from approaching her after their on-and-off relationship, which spanned seven years, ended.
Despite this court order, Mordente continued his abusive behavior by repeatedly reaching out to her and her family through phone calls, text messages, and social media between May 1, 2019, and February 6, 2020.
He confessed to obtaining her current phone number by deceit and even visited her family members’ homes to make inappropriate comments.
Furthermore, he violated a domestic abuse interdict issued on August 8, 2019, by making contact again from November 2, 2019, until February 5, 2020.
The victim made several attempts to end the relationship, but was overwhelmed by constant messages, gifts, and pleas for reconciliation.
She explained that Mordente ‘worn her down’ and, although she initially took him back after some harassment, she finally severed ties in September 2018 and blocked his number.
However, Mordente was determined to reach her and tricked her friend into providing her new number by pretending to be her in a Tinder-related chat.
Over this period, he sent her more than 200 calls and messages.
The court postponed sentencing to await further reports.
