GEORGE FOX FROM DUNDEE ESCAPES PRISON AFTER SENDING SEXUAL MESSAGES TO UNDERCOVER AGENT

A 67-year-old man from Dundee has narrowly avoided imprisonment after being found guilty of engaging in inappropriate and sexual communications with an individual he believed to be an 11-year-old girl. The incident came to light during a police investigation, which involved an undercover agent operating through a social networking application.

George Fox, who resides on Forthill Drive in Dundee, was convicted following a trial that revealed he had sent a series of disturbing messages over a span of two weeks in May 2019. The messages were exchanged at an address on Mossgiel Place, where Fox believed he was communicating with a young girl. In reality, the recipient was an undercover officer, and the communications were part of an ongoing law enforcement operation to combat online predatory behavior.

During the trial, it was established that Fox had sent these inappropriate texts with the intent of engaging in sexual conversations. The messages, which were described as disgusting and unacceptable, prompted immediate legal action. As part of his sentence, Fox was handed an 18-month supervision order and a restriction of liberty order. The latter prohibited him from leaving his home between 7pm and 7am, effectively confining him during nighttime hours. Additionally, he was placed on the Sex Offenders Register, a measure designed to monitor individuals convicted of sexual offenses.

However, it is noted that Fox is no longer subject to the restriction of liberty order, which means he is now free to come and go from his residence at Forthill Drive, Dundee. His last known address is located near a primary school, raising concerns about the proximity of his home to a place frequented by children. Despite the restrictions being lifted, the case highlights ongoing issues related to online safety and the importance of vigilance in protecting minors from exploitation.
