October 2016 Man facing jail over download of child abuse images A MAN who used an anonymous browser and encryption programmes on his laptop while he downloaded images of child abuse is facing prison. Gary Taylor Lees was trying to hide his internet search history from police which put him in breach of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order. The order was made at Teesside Crown Court last December when the 50-year-old from Darlington was given a 15-month suspended jail term. He was arrested in July when officers discovered that he had made five more indecent images of children while under the order. Lees appeared at the crown court today via video-link from Holme House Prison in Stockton, where he has been since his arrest. A bail application by his barrister, Christopher Baker, was refused by Judge Peter Armstrong, and he will be sentenced next month. Mr Baker said Lees suffers from schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, and a psychiatric report has been commissioned to examine his mental health. The lawyer also said he was not getting the treatment he needs for his “brittle asthma” while behind bars, and fears a potentially fatal attack. “He has to accept his offending was in breach of the Sexual Harm Prevention Order, and, indeed, a suspended prison sentence,” said Mr Baker. “He has real concerns about the treatment he is receiving. He has not been provided with his nebuliser or had his monthly visits to hospital. “He is concerned that he will have an asthma attack which will be a life-threatening attack.” Judge Armstrong told Lees that he would be calling for a report from the prison governor unless his treatment started this week. Lees, of George Short Close, Darlington, admitted three charges of making indecent images, and breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
