January 2006 GP jailed for child porn charges A County Durham family doctor has been jailed for 15 months after child pornography was found on his computer. Sado-masochistic images of boys were found on Dr Riccardo Benci’s computer when he took it to be repaired. The 43-year-old, based at the Jubilee Medical Group in Newton Aycliffe, admitted 19 charges of making indecent images of children in December 2004. Benci, of Staindrop Road, Darlington, was also ordered at Teesside Crown Court to register as a sex offender. He also faces being struck off by the General Medical Council and has been banned from working with children. The court heard how some of the images involved children as young as six and Judge Guy Whitburn QC said there was “fear” and “shock” on some of the faces of the youngsters. Benci will remain on the sex offender register for 10 years.
