Lee Wilson

Darlington Sexual Abuser

April 2012 Girl’s abuser back in prison after sex attack A PAEDOPHILE jailed six years ago for abusing a girl was back behind bars last night for a sex attack on a woman. Lee Wilson was told by a judge that he was a “significant danger” to females and was given a sentence for public protection. Wilson was yesterday jailed for six years and will have to serve an extended six-year period on licence recall after his release. Judge John Walford told the 45- year-old, from Darlington that his “routine abuse” of alcohol added to his dangerousness. Teesside Crown Court heard Wilson would be a risk unless he engaged in “structured interventions” to address his behaviour. A probation officer who interviewed him twice said in a report that he “demonstrated entrenched abusive beliefs”. The court heard that Wilson was jailed for three-and-a-half years in 2006 for an offence of sexual activity with a child. He also has convictions for sexually assaulting a child – described by Judge Walford as offences of a very serious nature. Rod Hunt, mitigating, urged the judge not to impose an indefinite sentence of imprisonment for public protection. “The ultimate sanction of depriving a man liberty for life, which is effectively what it is, is not reached by these facts. “He was very sorry when he realised what he had done and what he put her through,” Mr Hunt told Judge Walford. Wilson, of Hercules Street, Darlington, admitted assault by penetration and two charges of assault by beating. Quoting from the probation report, Judge Walford said: “It is the view of [the author] that by the commission of these offences, you have demonstrated entrenched abusive beliefs and behaviour, a sense of sexual entitlement and lack of internal control over your behaviour, and you are considered to be a dangerous man. “It is the view of [the author] that, unless and until you engage with structured interventions designed to address the attitudes and beliefs which she perceives you to hold, you present a significant risk of committing further sexual offences, a risk of causing significant harm to women and children. “I note from the pre-sentence report that there has been, in the past, occasions when you have routinely abused alcohol and times when you have suffered from depression, and these are features of your past which, in my judgement, if recurring, pose a further risk towards others.” Wilson, who was known as Lee Marshall by many in Darlington, was also put on the sex offenders’ register for life and was made the subject of an indefinite sexual offences prevention order.
