February 2017 Films Hull paedophile watched were so sick they even upset police A paedophile has been jailed after being caught with films and photographs of child sex abuse that were so disgusting even police found them upsetting. David Sutton, 61, had nearly 1,000 indecent images, and 169 films, on his tablet computer when police raided his home on January 12 last year. They included children as young as two being violently abused. Describing one of the sickening videos, Stephen Welch, prosecuting, told Hull Crown Court: “The adult female appears to enjoy the distress she is causing the child.” As Judge Mark Bury described one example of the movies to show why an immediate prison sentence for Sutton was “inevitable”, Sutton, who had a previous conviction for possessing and distributing indecent images, produced a blade he had smuggled into the dock. Four custody officers were needed to restrain Sutton and separate him from the blade. He was then handcuffed and taken to the cells, where he was treated by a medic for a “nasty cut” to his hand. Sutton had previously told a probation officer he was having suicidal thoughts. He refused to leave his cell after treatment and the hearing continued in his absence. The raid was prompted by intelligence from the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre. In total, Sutton had 119 images at Category A, the most serious, 141 at Category B, and 681 Category C images. He also had 25 prohibited images, or drawings. Sutton had 96 Category A movies, 72 at Category B, and one at Category C. He had received the images on a Twitter account under the name “Alan King”, the court heard. He also had an application on his mobile phone which showed he had discussed indecent images with others. Sutton, of Newington Street, west Hull, admitted three counts of possessing indecent images of children. Jailing Sutton for 18 months, the judge called the images “vile”, and said: “I have described an image involving a child in a clearly distressed state, and I’m told that the police officers watching it were distressed whilst doing so.” He said Sutton had a “deep-seated sexual interest in children”, and the only mitigation was his guilty plea. Sutton must sign the sex offenders register for ten years, and was made subject to a sexual harm prevention order for the same period. February 2017 Paedophile smuggles blade into Hull court dock on sentence day A prisoner had to be restrained by four custody officers after smuggling a blade into a dock at Hull Crown Court. David Sutton, 61, was about to be sentenced for possessing indecent images of children when he disrupted proceedings by producing a blade in the dock of Court One. “He’s got a blade, your honour”, said the single officer accompanying Sutton as Judge Mark Bury began his sentencing remarks. The judge was describing one of the most extreme images of child abuse found on Sutton’s computer to explain why a prison sentence was “inevitable”. “Dont be stupid, you’re not going to harm yourself, David,” the officer said. He was quickly joined by three colleagues, two men and a woman, who struggled with Sutton in the secure, glass-fronted dock until he gave up the blade. He was then handcuffed and taken to the cells. He appeared to have smuggled a razor blade into the dock. Sutton is being treated by a medic for a “nasty cut to his hand”, the court heard Sutton, who admitted three counts of possessing indecent images, had told a probation officer he was suicidal. Hearings were briefly adjourned in Court One but have now resumed.
