CRAIG MILNE FROM DUNDEE STRIKES VICTIM WITH BANANA IN SHOCKING DOMESTIC ABUSE CASE
A man known for a long history of domestic violence, Craig Milne, has been convicted of multiple charges related to his abusive behavior towards four former partners over a span of more than a decade in Dundee. The court proceedings revealed a disturbing pattern of physical and psychological abuse, including acts such as hitting, slapping, degrading, and threatening his victims.
During the trial at Dundee Sheriff Court, Milne, aged 44 and residing on Manor Place, Broughty Ferry, claimed that he believed he was the target of a conspiracy.
He insisted that all four women who accused him of abuse had maliciously conspired against him.
Sheriff Gregor Murray, presiding over the case, expressed his strong impression of the evidence presented, describing it as some of the most convincing he had encountered in his ten and a half years on the bench.
Ultimately, the sheriff found Milne guilty of seven charges related to domestic abuse.
In his testimony, Milne denied any wrongdoing, asserting that he had not committed the acts he was accused of.
He also attempted to discredit one of his victims by suggesting she had a drinking problem.
Milne recounted an incident where he returned home to find his partner had put his dinner into a blender, describing it as reminiscent of a 'bushtucker trial.' He further claimed that one of his victims had sustained bruises after supposedly falling down the stairs, a statement that drew skepticism from the court.
When questioned by the deputy fiscal Rachel Hill about the veracity of the allegations, Milne responded, “That is right,” implying he did not believe the accusations.
Sheriff Murray then asked if he considered the allegations to be part of a conspiracy, to which Milne replied affirmatively, saying, “That’s what I would say, yes.” Following the guilty verdict, Sheriff Murray emphasized the seriousness of the case.
He stated, “There are two things I want to say to you here.
I have sat here for ten-and-a-half years and I found one of the witnesses who gave evidence here to be one of the most convincing witnesses I have ever heard.
I find you guilty of all the charges.” The sheriff also indicated that the sentence would be deferred pending reports and assessments, but made it clear that a custodial sentence was very much a possibility.
Milne’s criminal record includes a lengthy list of abusive acts spanning from 2007 to 2020.
His offenses include grabbing a woman by the throat and punching her at Dalhousie Gardens between September 2007 and February 2008.
He continued his pattern of violence at an address in Duntrune from March 2008 to November 2010, where he assaulted the same woman by strangulation, hair-pulling, and multiple blows to her head and body.
Further incidents occurred at Silver Link Avenue between January 2013 and May 2015, where he threatened and threw a hammer at a second woman.
Between 2016 and 2019, at Fettercairn Drive, he assaulted a third woman through pushing, punching, slapping, kicking, spitting, and hair-pulling, while also shouting and swearing at her repeatedly.
The pattern of abuse persisted into 2019 and 2020, with similar acts of shouting, swearing, poking, punching, slapping, kicking, and hair-pulling.
One particularly disturbing incident took place between June and October 2020, when Milne assaulted his fourth victim at Manor Place and Aberdour Place.
During this attack, he slapped a cigarette out of her mouth, shouted at her, made derogatory remarks, pushed her, and struck her with a banana in the eye.
He also hit her with a mobile phone and poured beer over her head, demonstrating a pattern of violent and degrading behavior that spanned many years and multiple locations within Dundee.
