CHRISTOPHER SANDELL SHOCKS WORCESTER WITH SEXUAL INDECENCY INVOLVING CHILDREN
In a serious development at Worcester Crown Court, 22-year-old Christopher Sandell from Toronto Close, Lower Wick, Worcester, has admitted to charges related to encouraging a minor to partake in sexual activities. The court proceedings, held on a Wednesday, revealed that Sandell pleaded guilty to three counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, with the incidents spanning from May 1, 2016, to April 28, 2017.
These offences involved a girl aged under 16, specifically 14 years old, as well as another girl under 16, aged 15, on January 22, 2017.
During the hearing, the prosecution was led by Anna Midgley, while Sandell was represented by his legal counsel, Jason Patel.
It was noted that Sandell had no prior criminal convictions, which may influence the court's considerations moving forward.
The judge presiding over the case, Judge Robert Juckes QC, decided to adjourn the proceedings to allow for a pre-sentence report to be prepared, with the next court date scheduled in approximately two weeks.
In addition to the adjournment, Judge Juckes ordered Sandell to sign the sex offender register, a mandatory requirement for individuals convicted of such offences.
The judge also emphasized that the delay in sentencing did not guarantee a non-custodial outcome at the subsequent hearing, indicating the seriousness with which the court is treating these allegations and the potential for custodial sentencing depending on the pre-sentence report and further considerations.
