COURT SPARES OFFENDER JAIL FOR HEINOUS ATTACK ON EX-PARTNER
A 37-year-old man named Christopher Burnett from Elizabeth Crescent in Newport-on-Tay has been involved in a severe assault on his ex-partner inside her home in Springfield.
He refused to leave her residence and repeatedly knocked her to the ground while applying pressure to her.
Burnett admitted to a series of violent acts including punching her multiple times, dragging her, pushing her onto the floor, kneeling on her and preventing her from leaving on March 8.
The court was told that he entered her home uninvited and pushed her against the wall during the incident.
During his outburst, Burnett exclaimed, 'All hell is going to break loose.' A photograph shows him in Dundee Sheriff Court.
Prosecutors described his actions as 'truly heinous.' Rather than imprisonment, sheriff Paul Brown ordered Burnett to perform 200 hours of unpaid work, imposed an eight-month restriction of liberty order (from 8pm to 8am), and mandated supervised probation and participation in the Caledonian Programme for two years.
Burnett also received a five-year non-harassment order, emphasizing the court's concern over his behavior.
