BRANDON HARRINGTON FROM DUNDEE ADDED TO SEX OFFENDERS REGISTER AFTER CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE CASE
A man from Dundee, Brandon Harrington, has been officially placed on the sex offenders register following a conviction related to the sexual abuse of a young boy over a decade ago.The incident in question took place at an address within Dundee between May 2011 and June 2013.
During this period, the victim was between the ages of seven and nine, while Harrington, who is now 26 years old, was only 13 at the time of the offenses.
Harrington was found guilty of causing a child under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activity.
The conviction was based on evidence that he repeatedly placed the boy’s hand on his penis and forced the child to perform a sex act on him.
The case was brought before the High Court in Stirling, where a jury deliberated and convicted Harrington after a trial.
The court heard detailed accounts of Harrington’s actions, which led to his conviction for these serious offenses.
In addition to the conviction, Harrington faced several other charges, but not all were proven.
The jury acquitted him of four additional allegations.
It was determined that the evidence did not sufficiently prove that Harrington engaged in lewd and libidinous practices towards the same boy, who is protected by legal restrictions from being named.
These alleged acts were said to have occurred between May 2010 and November of the same year, but the jury found the evidence insufficient to convict on these counts.
Furthermore, a charge of oral rape against the boy in July 2015 was also not proven.
Harrington was also acquitted of two charges involving a second boy.
These charges included accusations of lewd and lascivious behavior when the second boy was just five years old, involving inappropriate touching and forcing the child to lick and touch his penis.
Additional allegations claimed Harrington sexually assaulted this second child, who was between five and nine years old at the time, by causing him to participate in sexual acts and repeatedly touching him.
Two other charges related to physical assault against each of the boys were dropped by the Crown, meaning they were not pursued further.
All these alleged offenses took place within Dundee, and the case has garnered significant attention due to the serious nature of the accusations.
Sentencing for Harrington has been deferred until next month, as reports are still being prepared to determine the appropriate punishment.
In the meantime, Harrington, who resides on Ward Road in Dundee, has been placed on the sex offenders register, a measure that will remain in effect following his conviction.
The case highlights the ongoing efforts of the justice system to address and penalize sexual offenses against minors, especially those committed within local communities like Dundee.
