ANDREW SHERRATT FROM DUNDEE STRIKES AGAIN: SEX OFFENDER ON THE RUN AFTER SHOCKING INCIDENTS IN DUNDEE
In a disturbing series of events that have shocked the community of Dundee, Andrew Sherratt, a man with a troubling criminal history, has once again found himself at the center of serious allegations involving inappropriate conduct and sexual misconduct.In May 2019, Sherratt was involved in an incident that took place during a dinner gathering at his residence in Dundee.
The event took a sinister turn when he made lewd and inappropriate comments to a woman who was present at his home.
The woman, whose identity remains protected, was invited over for what was supposed to be a casual evening involving a takeaway meal.
However, the situation escalated when Sherratt, who was married at the time, sought to initiate a sexual encounter by showing her explicit messages on his phone.
According to court proceedings, the woman testified that Sherratt approached her while his wife was in another room, and then stood over her in a manner that was both intimidating and inappropriate.
She recounted that he displayed his phone with a note that read, “can I ask you a personal question?” followed by a sexually explicit message stating his desire to “pleasure” her.
He further suggested that this conversation should remain a secret between them, which left the woman feeling shocked, upset, and betrayed.
During her testimony at Dundee Sheriff Court, she described her emotional state, saying, “I just kind of sat there in shock.
I was upset and annoyed because I was meant to be pals with his wife but I knew straight away that relationship would be over.
I stayed for a little while but I left pretty quick.
I was having panic attacks.” Judge James MacDonald found Sherratt guilty of intentionally showing the woman a sexual message with the intent of causing her alarm or for sexual gratification, between March 1 and March 31 of the previous year.
The court warned that although the offense might be considered less severe, it could still warrant a custodial sentence.
Sherratt was subsequently placed on the sex offenders register pending sentencing, which has been deferred until next month.
Adding to his criminal record, it was revealed that in April 2012, Sherratt had attempted to solicit nude photographs from a vulnerable 15-year-old girl, who was deaf and could lip-read.
The girl, a family friend, had confided in him while she was alone in her home.
Sherratt, then 26, engaged her in an online conversation via MSN Messenger, during which he asked if she was alone and inquired about nude pictures.
He then made inappropriate comments about sex acts and urged her to swap explicit images, promising secrecy.
The girl, distressed by the conversation, informed her parents, who contacted the police.
When police arrived at Sherratt’s home, his wife was present.
She was questioned about the incident, and Sherratt admitted that the conversation had “got a bit out of hand” and “went too far.” He pleaded guilty to the charge of intentionally sending indecent messages to the 15-year-old girl.
Dundee Sheriff Court has deferred sentencing until next month to allow for a background report, especially considering Sherratt’s previous sexual offense history.
He remains on the sex offenders register in the meantime, highlighting the ongoing concerns surrounding his conduct and the safety of vulnerable individuals in the community.
