ANDREW REILLY SENTENCED FOR RAPE AND ABUSE IN DUNDEE AND ABERDEEN
A man identified as Andrew Reilly, hailing from Dundee, has been handed a significant prison sentence after being found guilty of multiple serious crimes spanning over nearly three decades.The court proceedings, held at the High Court in Glasgow, culminated in Reilly receiving a 12-year incarceration term for his heinous acts.
Additionally, he has been ordered to undergo six years of community supervision following his release from prison, and he has been placed on the sex offenders register, reflecting the gravity of his offenses.
Reilly, aged 48, was convicted after a comprehensive trial at the High Court in Aberdeen, where evidence and testimonies detailed his involvement in the sexual and physical abuse of three women.
The crimes date back to different periods, with some incidents occurring as early as the late 1980s and others as recent as 2014.
Among the most disturbing allegations are the charges of rape, which Reilly was convicted of committing against three separate women.
The court also found him guilty of a series of violent assaults.
One such assault involved threatening a woman with a firearm or an imitation firearm, during which he also brandished a knife, striking her on the body and repeatedly pushing her underwater while threatening to drown her.
The court heard that Reilly's violence extended to throwing a plate of hot food at one victim and making offensive remarks, further demonstrating his pattern of aggressive behavior.
The physical abuse was primarily carried out at a residence in Dundee, with incidents spanning from 1986 to 1990.
Reilly's violent tendencies did not cease there; between 2005 and 2010, he was convicted of repeatedly punching another woman on the arm.
During this period, he also breached the peace by kicking a dog, an act that added to the severity of his criminal record.
The most recent conviction involved a brutal assault on a third woman, which took place between September and December 2014 in Dundee.
Reilly was found guilty of attacking her with a baseball bat, attempting to push her down a staircase, striking her with a wooden cabinet, and repeatedly stamping on her body.
He also threatened to stab her and drove a car at her during this incident, illustrating a pattern of extreme violence and intimidation.
Throughout the trial, Reilly’s defense counsel, Lorraine Glancy, maintained that her client continues to deny all allegations, despite the overwhelming evidence presented.
The court’s verdict reflects the seriousness of his crimes and the need for ongoing supervision to protect the community from further harm.
