FIFE MAN ANDREW LEITCH CAUGHT WITH CHILD ABUSE IMAGES IN GLENROTHES
In June 2019, a disturbing case emerged involving a man from Fife who was found in possession of indecent images of children for the second time. The incident took place in Glenrothes, where authorities executed a search warrant at the residence of Andrew Leitch, a 53-year-old resident of Montrose Green.
During the operation, law enforcement officers seized various electronic devices from Leitch’s home.
A detailed examination of these devices revealed the presence of child pornography, including one particularly disturbing image involving an infant.
This discovery marked a serious escalation in the case, highlighting the severity of the offense.
Initially, Leitch denied any involvement or knowledge of the images found on his devices.
However, under police questioning, he eventually admitted to having a sexual interest in children, which he had previously denied.
The investigation uncovered that between August 29 and October 25 of the previous year, Leitch was in possession of indecent photographs of minors.
Furthermore, he acknowledged that during the same period, he had actively downloaded additional indecent images of children, raising significant concerns about his intentions and actions.
Leitch’s defense claimed that he might have accidentally downloaded the illicit images, attempting to minimize the gravity of his actions.
Nonetheless, the prosecution’s case was clear, and the depute emphasized that Leitch later admitted to having a sexual interest in children, which compounded the seriousness of the charges.
At Dunfermline Sheriff Court, Sheriff Charles MacNair addressed the case with gravity, noting that it was quite unusual to encounter a second offense of this nature.
He underscored the importance of the case’s severity and the need for appropriate judicial response.
Leitch was formally charged and appeared before the court to admit to possessing and downloading indecent photographs of children during the specified period.
The sheriff ordered that Leitch be placed on the sex offenders’ register immediately, reflecting the ongoing concern for public safety.
Bail was continued, but Sheriff MacNair issued a stern warning, stating, “That is no indication of what will happen at the end of the day,” implying that the final sentencing could be severe.
Leitch’s sentencing was scheduled for July 25, and he awaits the court’s decision while remaining under supervision.
