DUNDEE GOLD MEDALIST AND SCOUT LEADER ANDREW GRAY CAUGHT WITH CHILD ABUSE IMAGES
In a disturbing case that has shocked the local community in Dundee, Andrew Gray, a former Special Olympics gold medalist and assistant Scout leader, has been found in possession of a large collection of indecent images depicting young children. The incident came to light following a police raid on his family home, where officers uncovered a significant amount of illicit material stored on his electronic devices.
Gray, who achieved international recognition by winning gold in the 25-metre butterfly at the 2007 Special Olympics held in Shanghai, now faces serious criminal charges.
His arrest was the culmination of an investigation triggered by confidential information indicating that indecent images were being accessed from an IP address linked to his residence in Dundee.
The police executed a search warrant on September 9 of the previous year, during which they located Gray and his parents at their home.
During questioning, Gray appeared to acknowledge the investigation, asking, “Can I ask when this was as I had a problem before,” suggesting prior awareness of issues related to his online activity.
His parents also disclosed that they had previously discovered inappropriate images on his mobile phone, raising concerns about his ongoing behavior.
The police recovered a computer tower and an external hard drive from the premises.
Forensic analysis revealed that these devices contained a total of 183 indecent images on the computer and 710 images on the external hard drive, including 87 at the most explicit level.
Among the searches conducted on his devices were terms such as “naked toddler,” indicating a disturbing pattern of interest.
Gray, aged 37, has admitted to taking or making indecent images of children at his Dundee home between March 18 and August 29 of the previous year.
The case was brought before Dundee Sheriff Court, where Sheriff Alastair Brown decided to defer sentencing until next month to allow for further reports.
Gray was released on bail pending the outcome of these proceedings, but the gravity of the charges underscores the serious nature of the allegations against him.
