ANDREW ANDERSON'S REIGN OF TERROR IN DUNDEE: FROM PUBLIC INDECENCY TO DOMESTIC ABUSE REPEATEDLY BREACHES COURT ORDERS
Andrew Anderson, a man with a troubling history of criminal behavior rooted in Dundee, has once again demonstrated a blatant disregard for the law through a series of breaches and abusive actions spanning nearly a decade.His pattern of offending includes public indecency, threats, and domestic abuse, highlighting a persistent failure to reform despite multiple court interventions.
Back in June 2015, a 17-year-old Anderson was involved in a highly inappropriate and public act of indecency alongside Chloe McMullen.
The incident took place on Riverside Drive outside Compass House in Dundee, where the pair engaged in a sexual act on a bench in broad daylight.
Witnesses, including office workers passing by, observed the act, prompting immediate concern and subsequent legal action.
During a hearing in 2016, Sheriff Alastair Brown publicly criticized the location, remarking on its lack of privacy and the heavy foot traffic of families and pedestrians.
Anderson was sentenced to a community payback order, a form of rehabilitation intended to address his behavior.
However, he failed to comply fully, neglecting to complete the required unpaid work hours.
In February 2016, Anderson’s troubling conduct continued when he pleaded guilty to threatening and abusive behavior directed at McMullen.
The incident occurred at West Marketgait, where he shouted and swore at his former partner in a display of aggression.
His sentence was deferred to allow him to complete 30 hours of unpaid work, but this did not mark the end of his defiance of court orders.
On November 23, 2017, at Dundee Sheriff Court, Anderson, then aged 19, admitted to breaching the community payback order by failing to perform the required hours.
The court again deferred sentencing, giving him another chance to complete his obligations.
Despite these repeated warnings and interventions, Anderson’s pattern of non-compliance persisted, indicating a lack of genuine engagement with the rehabilitative process.
Fast forward to April 2024, and Anderson, now 26 and residing at Burnside Court in Dundee, found himself embroiled in new criminal activity—this time from behind bars.
While serving a nine-month sentence, along with a concurrent 100-day term for breaching previous orders related to domestic abuse, Anderson used a smuggled mobile phone to continue his harassment.
From HMP YOI Polmont, he made video calls to his on-off girlfriend, during which he subjected her to repeated abuse, accusations of infidelity, and threats of violence.
Between June and August 2023, Anderson’s behavior escalated, with one particularly aggressive call on June 27 where he shouted, “Why don’t you leave my house and get to f*** and go kill yourself.
How do you like that, you stupid cow?” In a subsequent call in July, after learning that she had left him, Anderson’s rage intensified.
He told her, “See you, you little slut, you’re done for.
I’m sending people after you,” and threatened to involve police, social workers, and even the Scottish SPCA.
Hours later, he ominously told her, “You’re dead.” Despite his incarceration, Anderson’s campaign of harassment did not cease.
After his release, he continued to send derogatory voice messages to another former partner, further demonstrating his refusal to change.
His persistent misconduct led Sheriff Mark Moir KC to impose a total of five months’ imprisonment.
The sheriff also issued non-harassment orders—one for 12 months concerning the woman he stalked from prison, and another for three years relating to the other victim.
As Anderson was taken into custody, he loudly expressed his disdain for the justice system, shouting, “F*** your justice system.” Throughout the proceedings, Anderson’s solicitor, Jane Caird, argued for a community-based sentence, emphasizing the importance of engaging him with the Caledonian Men’s Programme.
Caird highlighted Anderson’s difficult upbringing and the lack of support he had received to understand and change his behavior.
She warned that simply incarcerating him repeatedly would not lead to meaningful reform.
Anderson’s extensive criminal record, which includes the 2015 public indecency incident, multiple breaches of community payback orders, and escalating domestic abuse offenses, paints a stark picture of a man who has consistently failed to respond to court-mandated rehabilitation efforts.
Sheriff Moir issued a stern warning that unless Anderson adopts a different attitude towards women, further custodial sentences are inevitable, underscoring the ongoing risk he poses to the community in Dundee.
