DUNDEE OFFENDER JAILED FOR ASSAULT AND THREATENING POLICE
A 24-year-old man named Andrew Adamson has been sentenced to 17 months in jail for attacking his girlfriend and threatening police officers. The court heard that Adamson punched his partner Jane Small in the face during an incident on November 2 last year in the city centre.
After the punch, Ms Small appeared to be unconscious on CCTV footage.
When police arrived, she was regaining consciousness but refused to give a statement or medical treatment.
Adamson was later found nearby and became aggressive, shouting and swearing at police, making threats of violence and sexual threats to officers and their families.
Defender Paul Parker Smith stated that Adamson and Ms Small had been drinking before the incident and that Adamson regretted his actions sober.
Sheriff Carmichael decided that the only suitable punishment was imprisonment, citing the nature of the assault and the offensive comments made to police.
