ALEX GREENWOOD CAUGHT IN CAMBRIDGE BY PAEDOPHILE HUNTERS FROM TOTNES JUSTICE
In August 2021, a disturbing case unfolded involving a man from Cambridge named Alex Greenwood, who was caught engaging in online sexual communication with a person he believed was a 13-year-old girl. The incident was uncovered by the vigilant paedophile hunting team known as 'Totnes Justice,' which operates by posing online as children to identify and apprehend predators seeking to exploit minors.
Greenwood appeared in court to face the consequences of his actions after he pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual communication with a child.
The court was informed that Greenwood had used a false identity, adopting the alias 'Mitchell Clark,' in an attempt to conceal his true identity while initiating contact with the supposed young girl.
His goal was clear: to groom her for sexual activity through explicit conversations.
Throughout the exchanges, Greenwood's behavior grew increasingly obsessive.
He persistently sought to engage the girl in sexual acts, repeatedly calling her at all hours of the day, including multiple calls at 3 a.m.
His messages contained highly explicit content, and he even asked her to send nude images.
In a shocking display of his intentions, Greenwood once flashed his penis on webcam during their communication.
It was later revealed that the girl Greenwood believed he was speaking to did not exist.
Instead, she was an adult member of the 'Totnes Justice' team, which had set up the online profile to catch predators like Greenwood.
This operation aims to protect children by exposing those who seek to exploit them for sexual purposes.
Following the court proceedings, the judge sentenced Greenwood to an 18-month community order.
Additionally, he was issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for a period of 18 months and was instructed to register as a sex offender, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities to prevent further offenses.
