JASON CUTTS FROM CAMBRIDGE, HAVERHILL, AND SUDBURY SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENSES AND RAPE

In a case that has shocked the communities of Cambridge, Haverhill, and Sudbury, a 43-year-old man named Jason Cutts has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being convicted of multiple serious sexual offenses involving a young girl. The incident, which spanned several years, culminated in a conviction that highlights the severity of the crimes committed.

Cutts, a computer engineer residing on Birdwood Road in Cambridge, faced a jury at Ipswich Crown Court last month, where he was found guilty of numerous charges related to the abuse of a 14-year-old girl. Despite his initial denial of the allegations, the evidence presented in court proved overwhelming. The court heard that Cutts not only assaulted the girl but also introduced her to his business partner, Phillip Skinner, aged 60, who also participated in the abuse.

According to court proceedings, both Cutts and Skinner watched as each other engaged in sexual acts with the young girl, who was only 14 at the time. The disturbing details revealed that the girl eventually became pregnant as a result of the assaults. The court was told that after the incidents, Cutts helped arrange for her to undergo a termination of pregnancy, further complicating the case.

Judge John Devaux sentenced Cutts to an extended term totaling 27 years, with 17 of those years to be served in prison. Additionally, Cutts was ordered to be placed on the Sexual Offenders Register indefinitely, reflecting the gravity of his crimes. The judge emphasized that the “extremely serious” nature of the offenses warranted such a severe sentence.

During the trial, it was revealed that Cutts was convicted of six counts of rape, two counts of indecent assault, 13 counts of making indecent images of children, along with possession and distribution of such images. These offenses occurred between March 2001 and November 2005, with some taking place in Haverhill. A laptop seized from Cutts by police contained child pornography, which is set to be destroyed.

Cutts maintained that the girl’s allegations were “just a fantasy” and denied responsibility for her pregnancy. He also claimed he had not placed any indecent images of children on his computer. The court heard that Cutts operated a computer business with Skinner, with premises in Hollands Road, Haverhill, and shops in Sudbury and Halstead.

Phillip Skinner, of Kitchen Hill, Bulmer, near Sudbury, was also convicted of raping the same girl between December 2005 and November 2006. He had previously pleaded guilty to possessing indecent images of children after police seized his laptop during the investigation. The prosecution alleged that Skinner had offered Cutts cash payments in exchange for arranging sexual encounters with the girl.

Skinner, who has a prior conviction for possession of child pornography, admitted to being attracted to girls aged between 11 and 14 and to viewing indecent images of minors. However, he denied ever having sex with a girl of that age. The case underscores the disturbing extent of the abuse and the involvement of multiple individuals in these heinous acts, which have left a lasting impact on the victim and the communities involved.
