DUNDEE MAN JAILED FOR STABBING PARTNER WITH SCREWDRIVER
A man named Alan Rachwal, aged 32, committed a violent assault in Dundee's Hilltown Court on March 8, 2022.He violently attacked his partner by stabbing her with a screwdriver, puncturing her neck and threatening her with death.
Witnesses, including neighbors, saw Rachwal physically pinning his partner against a glass door while shouting, “I’ll stab you in the heart.” The woman managed to escape into a lift as her partner tried to pull her back.
She suffered a 7mm puncture wound to her neck, which required stitches and left a white scar.
She also reported increased anxiety following the incident.
The police responded around noon, found the woman with blood on her neck and hands, and took her to Ninewells Hospital for treatment.
The court heard that Rachwal had a history involving weapons and had been remanded for a year.
He pleaded guilty to a domestically-aggravated assault causing injury and permanent disfigurement.
The court sentenced him to jail and ordered him to stay away from the victim for five years via a non-harassment order.
The sheriff indicated that while Rachwal will serve a custodial sentence, supervision might follow after his release to benefit both him and Dundee.
