ALAN COOK FROM DUNFERMLINE CAUGHT WITH CHILD INDECENT IMAGES AND VIDEOS

A man from Dunfermline, identified as Alan Cook, has been brought to justice after a disturbing case involving the distribution of indecent images of minors came to light. The incident was uncovered when a young girl’s friend, who received graphic images of the girl via Instagram, decided to report the matter to the police. This act of reporting led authorities to investigate Cook’s residence on Clunie Road, where a search warrant was executed.

During the search, law enforcement officers seized an iPad and several mobile phones belonging to Cook. A thorough examination of these devices revealed that Cook had been actively searching for terms such as “14-year-olds” and “jailbait,” indicating a disturbing interest in underage individuals. The devices contained a total of 172 indecent images and three videos, some of which were classified as Category A, depicting the sexual abuse of children as young as one to six years old. Other material was categorized as Category B and C, showing children aged from two to eight years old engaged in sexual acts.

Cook, who was 16 years old at the time of the offences, pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including the creation or possession of child indecent photographs, distribution of such material, and causing others to view these images. His solicitor indicated his age during the offences, which is a significant detail in the case. The court proceedings revealed the gravity of the crimes, with the prosecution emphasizing the disturbing nature of the content found on Cook’s devices.

At the hearing, the sheriff decided to defer sentencing until June 27, allowing time for social work reports and assessments to be completed. These reports are expected to evaluate restrictions and conditions that may be imposed on Cook moving forward. In the meantime, Cook has been placed on the Sex Offenders Register and is currently on bail. The sheriff stated, “I have to get a report before I deal with you,” underscoring the seriousness with which the court is treating the case.

Cook has admitted to the offences, which involved not only possession but also the distribution of highly graphic and illegal content involving young children. The authorities confirmed that a significant number of illicit images and videos were found on his devices, highlighting the severity of his actions. The court is now in the process of determining the length of the notification requirements that Cook will be subject to once he is sentenced, reflecting the ongoing nature of this serious case.
