FRASER WILSON FROM DUNFERMLINE FAILS TO COMPLY WITH SEX OFFENCES ORDER AT DUNFERMLINE SHERIFF COURT
Fraser Wilson, a 46-year-old sex offender residing on Westwood Crescent in Dunfermline, appeared before Dunfermline Sheriff Court on January 17 to face charges related to his failure to adhere to legal conditions imposed under the Sex Offences Act 2003.The court proceedings revealed that Wilson had neglected his obligation to attend the police station for his annual registration on December 6, a breach of the terms of his previous sexual offences prevention order.
Wilson's order, which was initially imposed in July 2014, was valid until July 2019.
Despite the passage of time, the legal obligation to comply with the order remained in effect, and authorities had made multiple attempts to contact him.
According to prosecutors, a detective reached out to Wilson on October 31, reminding him of his registration duties.
However, subsequent efforts to establish contact proved unsuccessful.
On December 4, police officers attempted to reach Wilson through phone calls, but all calls went to voicemail, and officers were unable to locate him at his residence.
During the court hearing, Wilson’s defense solicitor, Jonathan Mathieson-Dear, explained that his client had been going through a particularly turbulent period between October and December.
He detailed that Wilson had lost his job as a forklift driver, which contributed to a state of depression and increased alcohol consumption.
These personal struggles appeared to have impacted his ability to comply with the legal requirements.
The court, presided over by Sheriff Charles MacNair, considered the circumstances carefully before delivering a sentence.
Wilson was sentenced to a community payback order, which involves completing 240 days of unpaid work.
The ruling underscores the ongoing legal obligations and the importance of compliance for individuals under sexual offences prevention orders, especially in cases where personal difficulties may interfere with legal responsibilities.
