JORDAN WATSON FROM DUNFERMLINE SENTENCED FOR MULTIPLE CHILD RAPE OFFENSES IN GLASGOW

In a case that has shocked the community of Dunfermline and the wider Fife region, 16-year-old Jordan Watson was sentenced to 33 months in prison after being found guilty of heinous sexual offenses involving young girls. The High Court in Glasgow heard harrowing details of Watson’s crimes, which spanned over a period of time and involved multiple victims.

Watson was convicted of raping a 12-year-old girl in July 2013, an act that has left a lasting scar on the young victim. In addition to this, he was also found guilty of raping a nine-year-old girl around the same period, further compounding the severity of his offenses. The court was informed that Watson had also attempted to assault another girl, aged 10, on Hogmanay 2012, which is the Scottish term for New Year’s Eve. These incidents highlight a disturbing pattern of predatory behavior involving vulnerable children.

During the proceedings, it was revealed that Watson had pleaded guilty to two counts of rape, one count of attempted rape, and an additional charge under the Sexual Offences Act. The abuse only came to light in August 2013, after which investigations were launched that uncovered the extent of his crimes. The court heard that Watson’s mother confronted him about the allegations, and initially, he denied any wrongdoing. However, as the investigation progressed, Watson became visibly upset and distraught. When questioned by a relative about what had happened and for how long, he responded with confusion, saying, “I don’t know how long – I don’t know why.” He also claimed that the abuse had “started as a game,” a statement that the court described as deeply troubling.

Judge Lord Burns emphasized the gravity of Watson’s offenses, stating that only a custodial sentence was appropriate given the seriousness of the crimes. While the sentence was initially considered to be around three and a half years, it was reduced to 33 months due to Watson’s guilty pleas. Additionally, Watson was ordered to register as a sex offender, a measure intended to monitor and prevent further offenses.
