AARON SCOTT FROM DUNDEE CAUGHT WITH CHILD ABUSE IMAGES AT LOCAL PRIMARY SCHOOL
In March 2018, a disturbing case emerged involving Aaron Scott, a 31-year-old man residing on Fintry Drive in Dundee, who was found to possess a large collection of child abuse images and videos.Scott, who was employed as a catering assistant at a primary school in Dundee, became the subject of a police investigation after authorities received credible information suggesting that his computer contained indecent material involving minors.
Law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at Scott’s residence, which he shared with his parents.
During the raid, they uncovered an alarming cache of digital content, including over 2,800 still images and 30 videos depicting children as young as eight years old.
The court was informed that many of these images portrayed young girls who appeared heavily made-up and were engaged in theatrical-style stripteases, raising serious concerns about the exploitation and abuse of minors.
The NSPCC Scotland responded strongly to the case, describing Scott’s collection as “sickening” and “appalling.” A spokesperson emphasized the gravity of the situation, stating, “Despite working in close proximity to children in a primary school, Scott amassed a collection of appalling images.
Behind every one was a real child, and Scott’s actions have only fueled the demand for this sickening material to be produced.
Online child abuse images must not be tolerated.” The spokesperson further called for increased cooperation among technology companies, law enforcement agencies, and government bodies to prevent such vile material from being circulated and to combat online child exploitation more effectively.
During the court proceedings, Dundee Sheriff Court heard from fiscal depute Nicola Gillespie that investigators discovered software on Scott’s computer used to locate the illicit images.
When questioned by police, Scott claimed he did not have a sexual interest in children and asserted that the software was intended for downloading movies or games.
However, the evidence clearly indicated his involvement in possessing indecent images of minors.
Scott pleaded guilty to charges of taking or making indecent images of children at his home address between May 20 and 22 of the previous year.
His solicitor, Ross Bennett, explained that Scott was suspended from his job shortly after his arrest and was ultimately dismissed on September 23.
Since then, he has not secured any new employment and continues to live with his parents.
In sentencing, Sheriff Lorna Drummond imposed a community payback order requiring three years of supervision and 200 hours of unpaid work.
Additionally, Scott was placed on the sex offenders register for a period of three years, reflecting the serious nature of his offenses and the ongoing risk posed by such criminal behavior.
