BUILDER SENTENCED FOR BRUTAL DOMESTIC ASSAULT IN ABERDEEN
A male individual named Viaceslavas Kijaninas has been sentenced to prison for launching a vicious assault on his partner, Inga Jociute. The incident occurred on Wednesday, October 31, and involved a series of violent acts including grabbing the woman and forcing her against a door, following her into a bedroom, and assaulting her physically.
The proceedings at Aberdeen Sheriff Court revealed that Kijaninas, aged 32 and residing on Balnagask Road, Aberdeen, admitted to carrying out a sustained attack on Ms.
Jociute.
According to District Prosecutor Alan Townsend, on the night of the assault, Kijaninas had been drinking alcohol.
The court was told that in a fit of violence, he had restrained Ms.
Jociute by pinning her against a wall and then throwing her down on the floor.
He then placed his knee on her chest and punched her repeatedly in the face, head, and torso.
The victim managed to escape into the street, where she sought help after neighbours described her as distressed and displaying signs of bruising and swelling on her face and neck.
She was subsequently taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with head injuries.
Defense lawyer Gail Goodfellow stated that Kijaninas had been off work for two months due to a back problem and had turned to alcohol, which strained their relationship.
However, she acknowledged the assault was particularly nasty.
Sheriff Graham Buchanan sentenced Kijaninas to eight months in jail, citing the brutality and ongoing nature of the attack as the reasons for the custodial sentence.
