PAEDOPHILE POET USED AI TO CREATE VILE IMAGES OF CHILD HE KNEW
Poet Aaron James Grant, known by his pen name Arran James Grant, was sentenced to 20 months in prison for using AI technology to generate images of a young girl he knew, estimated to be between eight and ten years old.
He used an online app to superimpose her onto existing child abuse photos and included his own likeness in the images.
These AI-generated pictures, watermarked with the app’s logo, were so realistic that they were first mistaken for real child abuse photographs.
Grant also discussed his crimes with a relative, claiming Scottish courts are too lenient and indicating he had wiped his computer to cover his tracks.
He was detained after returning from the U.S., where he had been living, with authorities discovering a draft message in which he admitted to creating AI images to fulfill a sexual fantasy.
Further evidence included tattoos that helped identify him and an email containing 18 indecent images of children, some of which were Category A.
Grant pleaded guilty to charges of downloading and possessing child abuse images and was sentenced to 20 months in prison, with a subsequent 10-year sex offender registration requirement.
