DOMESTIC ABUSER LAUGHS IN THE DOCK AS ‘ABHORRENT’ TREATMENT OF WOMAN LAID BARE IN COURT
A domestic violence offender who openly smiled and chuckled while his “abhorrent” criminal acts were being described in court has been told that only his youth prevented him from serving time behind bars.Billy Fraser inflicted physical and emotional abuse on his former partner, including slapping and spitting on her, as well as exerting control over her throughout their relationship.
Even after their breakup, the 21-year-old continued to harass her, leaving highly offensive voicemails, one of which expressed a wish that she would “die in a car crash,” along with her three-year-old niece.
Fraser appeared in court, laughing as the details of his disturbing conduct—carried out in Aberdeen and the Highlands—were read out at Aberdeen Sheriff Court.
His behavior drew a stern rebuke from Sheriff Rory Bannerman, who interrupted the proceedings to ask: “Do you think this is funny?”
