TRISTAN DALLY JAILED FOR CHILD ABDUCTION AND SEXUAL OFFENSES IN CWMBRAN AND THORNHILL

In a case that has shocked the communities of Cwmbran and Thornhill, Tristan Dally, aged 26, was sentenced to a total of three years and four months in prison after admitting to serious criminal charges involving a minor. The incident took place in July 2007 and has since garnered significant attention due to the nature of the offenses committed.

According to court proceedings, Dally, who resides at Monnow Court in Thornhill, was found guilty of abducting a teenage girl and engaging in sexual activity with her. The girl, who was under the age of 16, left her home in Cwmbran and deliberately ignored her mother’s attempts to contact her. She spent the night with Dally, an act that led to the subsequent legal actions.

Her mother, distressed by her daughter’s disappearance and unresponsive calls, contacted the police to report her missing. The situation escalated when Dally, upon discovering that the authorities had been alerted, took the initiative to contact the police himself. This action ultimately led to his arrest. The police then arranged for a medical examination of the girl, which confirmed that she had engaged in sexual activity with Dally.

During the court hearing, the prosecution, led by Huw Evans, clarified that although the girl had consented to the sexual acts, she was legally too young to give valid consent. This distinction was crucial in establishing the criminal nature of Dally’s actions.

Defense lawyer Julian Kesner expressed remorse on behalf of Dally, stating that his client was “ashamed at himself” for what he had done. Kesner also highlighted that Dally lacked a proper understanding of the gravity of his actions, implying a degree of remorse and ignorance rather than malicious intent.

Judge Christopher Vosper QC sentenced Dally to serve three years and four months for the sexual activity charge and an additional year for child abduction, with both sentences to run concurrently. The judge also ordered Dally to register as a sex offender indefinitely upon his release from prison. Furthermore, Dally was banned from working with children, reflecting the serious concern for public safety and the protection of minors in the community.
