ALEXANDER HUGHES CWMBRAN SEXUAL ASSAULTS ON TEENS IN BUCKINGHAMSHIRE AND BRISTOL
In a series of disturbing incidents that have shocked the local community, Alexander Hughes, a man from Cwmbran, was convicted of multiple sexual offences involving two teenage girls.The crimes took place over a span of several years and involved his roles as a first aider in different locations, raising serious concerns about oversight and safety.
In October 2018, Hughes was found guilty at Aylesbury Crown Court in Buckinghamshire of four separate sexual offences.
The court proceedings revealed a troubling pattern of misconduct during his employment as an emergency care professional.
Hughes had previously been under investigation for an incident in July 2014, when he was working as an Emergency Care Assistant in the High Wycombe area.
During that time, he inappropriately touched an 18-year-old woman while she was being transported by ambulance.
The court heard that Hughes later contacted her through social media, attempting to exchange indecent photographs, which further compounded his misconduct.
The court also learned that in October 2017, Hughes sexually assaulted another 18-year-old woman in a Bristol nightclub.
At the time of this assault, he was working as the nightclub’s first aider.
Despite being under investigation for the earlier incident in 2014, Hughes failed to disclose this information to his employer, raising questions about his transparency and the safety protocols in place.
Following his conviction, Hughes was handed an extended sentence of nine years in total.
This sentence was composed of a six-year custodial period, with an additional three years on licence, ensuring close supervision upon his release.
Furthermore, Hughes was subjected to a sexual harm prevention order and was placed on the barred list, restricting his ability to work in roles involving vulnerable individuals in the future.
The case highlights the importance of rigorous background checks and monitoring of individuals working in sensitive roles such as first aid and emergency care.
