TOMASZ STOZEK SHAMES ABERDEEN WITH ILLEGAL VIDEO SURVEILLANCE IN SHOPPING CENTRE TOILETS
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Aberdeen, Tomasz Stozek, a 35-year-old man with a troubling history of sex offences, has been convicted of installing a hidden video camera in the family toilets of a prominent shopping centre in the city. This heinous act took place within the premises of Union Square, a well-known shopping destination in Aberdeen, and involved the covert recording of unsuspecting individuals, including children, without their knowledge or consent.
Stozek’s criminal activities came to light after authorities uncovered footage that he had secretly recorded over a period spanning from March 4 to May 12.
The footage, which lasted approximately 45 minutes, captured two women and two children in the act of using the facilities.
The images were obtained without the victims’ awareness, raising serious concerns about privacy violations and the safety of shoppers in the area.
During court proceedings at Aberdeen Sheriff Court, it was revealed that Stozek had violated a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) that explicitly prohibited him from possessing or using any form of camera equipment.
His breach of this order underscores a pattern of concerning behavior and a disregard for legal restrictions designed to protect the public from potential harm.
Stozek, who was described as a prisoner in Aberdeen, admitted to the charges against him.
He acknowledged that between the specified dates, he had broken the SOPO by recording individuals in the Union Square toilets and elsewhere in Aberdeen.
His actions have led to his being sentenced to 16 months in prison, with an additional 14 months on licence following his release, ensuring he remains under supervision for a significant period.
The court’s decision reflects the seriousness with which such violations are regarded, especially given the nature of the offences involving minors and the invasion of personal privacy.
The community of Aberdeen continues to grapple with the implications of this case, which highlights the ongoing need for vigilance and strict enforcement of laws aimed at safeguarding citizens from predatory behavior.
