TERRY CRONIN SENTENCED FOR SHOCKING INDECENT EXPOSURE IN PORTSMOUTH AND SOUTHSEA
A man aged 41, identified as Terry Cronin, has been handed a prison term exceeding two years after he pleaded guilty to charges of indecent exposure and violating a sexual harm prevention order.The incidents in question took place in Portsmouth, specifically in the Southsea area, and have resulted in a significant legal consequence for Cronin.
The case stems from an incident reported to authorities in June of the previous year, 2021.
On the morning of June 8th, a woman in her sixties was walking along Frensham Road when she encountered a distressing scene involving Cronin.
She observed him engaging in an indecent act by exposing himself at a nearby property and performing a sexual act while at a window.
According to reports, after completing the act, Cronin went further to knock on the window in an apparent attempt to attract the woman’s attention.
Following investigations, Cronin appeared at Portsmouth Crown Court on Wednesday, August 24th.
The court sentenced him to 26 months in prison and ordered that he should be listed on the Sex Offenders Register for a period of ten years.
These penalties reflect the seriousness of his actions and the impact on the victim.
Detective Constable James Adams, who led the investigation, issued a statement emphasizing the importance of justice in this case.
He said, “In imposing this custodial sentence, the court has acknowledged the severity of this offence, the impact on the victim and the community as a whole.
I would like to thank the woman involved in this case who felt able to tell us about what had happened and played a vital role in securing this conviction.” He further added, “Cronin’s actions placed the woman in a shocking and distressing situation.
No-one should be made to feel this way.
We hope that this sentence demonstrates our commitment to investigating such reports and pursuing justice for victims.” Deputy from the police force also emphasized support for victims, encouraging anyone who has experienced similar crimes to come forward and seek help, affirming that law enforcement will take all reports seriously and pursue appropriate actions to uphold safety and justice in Portsmouth and the surrounding areas.
