TEMESGEN TEAME FROM GLASGOW CAUGHT IN SHOCKING ABDUCTION AND ATTEMPTED RAPE IN CITY CENTRE LANE
In a disturbing incident that unfolded in the heart of Glasgow, a man identified as Temesgen Teame from Castlemilk has pleaded guilty to charges of abduction and attempted rape involving an 18-year-old woman. The assault took place in a city centre lane, leaving the victim traumatized and the community shaken.
According to court reports, the incident occurred in July of this year, during a night when the young woman was out with friends.
CCTV footage captured her standing outside the Bloc bar on Bath Street in the early hours, unaware that she was being closely followed by Teame.
The 23-year-old suspect had been loitering near her, although she did not notice his presence at the time.
As she proceeded along Bath Street, Teame continued to trail her, eventually forcing her into a narrow lane known as St Vincent Lane.
Despite her desperate attempts to escape, he forcibly pulled her into the secluded area.
The victim pleaded with him to stop, repeatedly saying 'no,' but Teame responded with aggressive behavior, shoving her to the ground and beginning to molest her.
Prosecutor Martin Richardson detailed the harrowing scene, stating that the young woman screamed and shouted for help as Teame assaulted her.
She was crying and begging him to cease his actions, but he persisted, telling her, “You are too beautiful.
I really need to do this.” As her screams grew louder, Teame made a disturbing comment, saying, “I want to f*** you,” while attempting to unzip her trousers.
Throughout the ordeal, the victim struggled fiercely, terrified that she was about to be raped.
The commotion attracted the attention of staff at the nearby Stereo pub, who heard her cries and confronted Teame.
He admitted to them, saying, “I was trying to f*** her,” before threatening the pub workers, warning them, “I will f****** remember your faces and I will get you.” Following this confrontation, Teame attempted to flee the scene but was quickly pursued by three bar staff members.
They managed to bring him to the ground and hold him until police arrived.
Two officers on patrol were alerted to the incident and subsequently arrested him.
The court did not specify the extent of the victim's physical or emotional trauma, but a victim impact statement was submitted for consideration.
It was also revealed during the hearing that Teame is originally from Eritrea, having been in Scotland since 2015.
The case was brought before the High Court in Glasgow, where he pleaded guilty to the charges.
He is currently remanded in custody and faces a sentencing hearing scheduled for the New Year.
The judge, Lord Matthews, will determine the length of his imprisonment based on the severity of the crime and the impact on the victim.
