Stephen Kirkman

Ripley Sexual Abuser

January 2017 Derbyshire pervert ‘likely to lose job’ after being caught with indecent images A pervert who downloaded indecent images of boys and girls has since seen his marriage break down, has turned to heavy drinking and is now likely to lose his job, a court was told. Police found the moving images of underage children engaged in sex when specialists examined a computer belonging to Stephen Kirkman. Further analysis revealed he had used search terms including “pre-teen hard core,” “underage” and “Lolita” when surfing the internet. Handing him a nine-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, Judge Jonathan Bennett said: “These offences are regarded as very serious because these are real children being abused. You are sitting in your room watching them obtaining sexual gratification from that “It is clear from your pre-sentence report that you are a man that has got into difficult time with a marriage breakdown and your recent arrest for these offences. I have also read that because of this you have been drinking heavily as a result.” Judge Bennett said to Samina Rashid, defending Kirkman: “Is he likely to lose his job as a result of this conviction now?” Miss Rashid replied: “Yes, he is.” Derby Crown Court was told how police, acting on intelligence received, raided Kirkman’s home, in Crossley Street, Ripley, at 7am on June 2 last year. Sarah Allen, prosecuting, said: “It appears that they asked the defendant the straight question would they find any indecent images if they looked at his computer to which he replied that they would. “He was subsequently questioned by the police before the hard drive was analysed and entered ‘no comment’ answers to the questions he faced. A detective then looked at the hard drive of the computer and found the indecent movies on there. “It was also found that the defendant had used internet search terms such as ’13-year-olds,’ ’14-year-olds,’ ‘preteen hardcore,’ ‘Lolita,’ and ‘underage’.” Miss Allen said 17 indecent films of the most serious category A were discovered, three of category B and a further six category B. She said: “The category A movies included both boys and girls aged around 10 with other children and with adults.” Kirkman, 47, who has no previous convictions, pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent moving films of children. Along with the suspended jail term, Judge Bennett ordered Kirkman to carry out 150 hours unpaid work, to pay £300 towards prosecution costs and ordered to destruction of the hard drive seized from his Ripley home. He also ordered him to carry out 25 rehabilitation days where he will work with experts on the root cause of his offences and why he committed them.
