October 2010 College-worker pervert posted indecent images of children on internet A COLLEGE worker who posted indecent photographs of young girls on the internet had more than 8,000 images on his computers at home. John Stacey was tracked down by police after they found pictures he had posted on a website they were investigating. The 40-year-old, of Goose Lane, Codnor, had 8,636 images, of girls aged 11 to 17, in various states of undress on his home computers, Derby Crown Court heard. Police said the pictures were of categories one to three – the most indecent level being five. There were 7,837 category one images, 407 category two and 12 at category three. However, Judge Michael Fowler, who viewed a sample of the images before sentencing Stacey, said he believed some of them fell into category four. The court heard that Stacey, who had worked as a network administrator at Loughborough College, told police he was sexually interested in images of girls, aged 14 to 17. Handing Stacey a three-year community order, Judge Fowler said: “I hope he now realises that any attraction he has towards children is a wholly perverse and corrupt attraction.” Richard Kenward, prosecuting, said police searched Stacey’s home on February 25 last year. He said the images included indecent movies of children. The court heard that a laptop and computer tower, which had images on, belonged to Loughborough College. Stacey was interviewed by police and admitted downloading the images. The court heard that Stacey had since lost his job at the college, although there was no suggestion he had been responsible for children in his role. Stacey admitted five charges of distributing indecent photographs of children, nine counts of making and two of possessing them. Keith Raynor, in mitigation, said: “He now knows that children are coerced, forced and persuaded at this tender age to take part in making photographs.” As part of his sentence, Stacey must attend the NSPCC Dove Project, which works with child sex offenders. He will also be subject to supervision by the probation service. He was ordered to obey a sexual offenders’ prevention order, which includes having no unsupervised access to children. He must also sign the sex offenders’ register for five years and is banned from working with children.
