STEPHEN KIDD AND HIS SHOCKING SEXUAL ABUSE IN ABERDEEN
A notorious serial sex offender, Stephen Kidd, has been sentenced to serve a 12-year imprisonment after a lengthy and disturbing pattern of abuse spanning over fifteen years in and around Aberdeen.The conviction follows a case that uncovered the extent of Kidd’s misconduct, which involved multiple women who endured violent and manipulative assaults by him.
Kidd, aged 36, was judged guilty by a jury at the High Court in Edinburgh on charges relating to offences committed between 2005 and 2020.
The court proceedings revealed that the accused had targeted women repeatedly over the years, refusing to acknowledge the gravity of his actions despite overwhelming evidence against him.
In a deeply disturbing revelation, evidence showed Kidd had recorded a video of himself sexually assaulting one of his victims, further highlighting the severity and depravity of his crimes.
The jury found Kidd responsible for multiple serious offences, including rape and indecent assault.
During the trial, which concluded last December, Kidd admitted that the evidence presented painted a clear picture of him as a violent and controlling individual.
Despite this acknowledgment, he maintained his claim of innocence up until the sentencing.
At the sentencing hearing, Lord Weir expressed that a substantial custodial period was essential to reflect the serious nature of Kidd’s offences and to protect the public.
Passing sentence, the judge determined that Kidd would not only serve a 12-year term in prison but would also be subject to a three-year period of community supervision after his release.
Lord Weir emphasized the importance of supervision to prevent any potential reoffending and to mitigate risks to society.
In addressing Kidd directly, the judge remarked, “The jury must have been satisfied that you were responsible for the offences which show of your sinister and controlling conduct.
There’s no alternative in this case to the imposition of a lengthy custodial sentence.
I’m also satisfied that in light of your crimes that there has to be a period of supervision—that is necessary to secure the public from serious harm when you are released from custody.” Police Scotland expressed their satisfaction with the conviction, stating that they hoped the sentence would bring some measure of closure to the victims involved.
Detective Inspector Gordon Patullo publicly acknowledged the bravery of the women who came forward, saying, “Our thoughts are very much with Kidd’s victims.
I commend them all for their bravery in coming forward.
Kidd subjected women to sexual and physical assault over a 15-year period.
He has shown no remorse for his crimes.
