The incident unfolded at a caravan park in Mablethorpe, where Wells was found to be staying during a holiday, despite the restrictions placed upon him by the court.

Police were alerted to Wells's presence at the caravan site following a tip-off from a member of the public. The informant reported that Wells, who is known to have a history of sexual offenses, was holidaying at the location with a group of people, including several young children.
