January 2014 John Peter Dutka: Police correction Leicestershire police have issued a statement correcting information supplied to the media, and published in the Leicester Mercury on Thursday, about a recent court case involving John Peter Dutka, of Granary Close, Lincoln, but formerly of Dominion Road, Glenfield. The original press release stated the defendant pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to inciting three girls under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activities, attempting to arrange or facilitate the commission of child sexual offences and perverting the course of justice. Yesterday, a police spokeswoman said: “We can confirm that Mr Dutka was only convicted of two charges of attempting to arrange the commission of a child sex offence. We would like to apologise for any distress this may have caused to the defendant and his family.” The police also confirmed that the defendant will be on the sex offenders’ register for five years, not life as was stated in the original information. John Peter Dukta, of Granary Close, Lincoln but formerly of Dominion Road, Glenfield, was sentenced at Leicester Crown Court yesterday. Police released details of the hearing and said Dukta had been convicted of two charges of attempting to arrange the commission of a child sex offence
He also admitted the offence of attempting to arrange or facilitate the commission of child sexual offences and perverting the course of justice. He was given a three year community order and placed on the sex offenders register for five years. Detective Constable Emma Bee, who investigated the case, said: “I would like to take this opportunity to send out a positive message to other victims of sexual abuse – please come forward regardless of how long ago the incident took place. Your reports will be thoroughly investigated.”
