KENNETH JEFFREYS SENTENCED TO FOUR YEARS IN PRISON FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN HAVERHILL AND LINCOLN

In a significant legal development, Kenneth Jeffreys, a man previously residing in Haverhill and now living in Lincoln, was sentenced to four years in prison for a series of serious child sex offences.

The sentencing took place at Ipswich Crown Court, where Jeffreys, aged 54 and of Newark Road, North Hykham, Lincoln, pleaded guilty to multiple charges related to the abuse of a young girl.

The court heard that Jeffreys was responsible for abusing a girl who was only six or seven years old when the offences began in 1976.

The abuse continued over a span of approximately seven to eight years, during which Jeffreys was living in Haverhill.

The prosecuting attorney, Duncan O’Donnell, detailed that Jeffreys coerced the young girl into performing indecent acts with him, a revelation that has caused considerable distress and outrage.

The crimes remained undisclosed for many years, only coming to light in recent times when the victim confided in close friends and family members, including her husband and mother.

This disclosure prompted an investigation, leading to Jeffreys’ arrest in November of the previous year.

The charges against him included 11 counts of indecent assault and three counts of indecency with a child, with the court emphasizing that these charges represented specific instances of the offending behavior.

During the proceedings, Jeffreys’ defense attorney, Chris Bramwell, expressed that his client felt deep shame and remorse for his actions, acknowledging the gravity of the offences.

Despite this, the judge, John Devaux, ordered that Jeffreys be registered on the sex offenders register for life and prohibited from working with children in any capacity, underscoring the severity of the crimes committed and the need for ongoing public safety measures.
