Cranny, aged 54 and once celebrated as the 'Teacher of the Year' by his local newspaper in 2002, was revealed to have a disturbing mix of images.
His collection included innocent photographs of his pupils, which he had combined with explicit images of nude women in bondage.
This discovery raised serious concerns about his conduct and the boundaries of his professional and personal life.
Following the revelations, Cranny resigned from his position at Christ's Hospital School in Lincoln in July.
Subsequently, he appeared before the crown court in Lincoln, where he pleaded guilty to six charges related to creating indecent pseudo-photos of children.
Despite the gravity of the charges, Cranny was not sentenced to prison.
Instead, he was fined £600 and ordered to register as a sex offender for five years.
Judge William Everard presided over the case and acknowledged the disturbing nature of Cranny's actions.
