SCOTT THOMSON ABERDEEN DOMESTIC ABUSER SENTENCED AFTER CHILLING INCIDENTS
Scott Thomson, a 29-year-old man from Aberdeen, has been found guilty of multiple domestic assault charges in a recent court hearing.The proceedings detailed a series of violent and aggressive acts committed by Thomson against his former partner, highlighting a troubling pattern of behavior rooted in alcohol abuse and jealousy.
According to court records, Thomson admitted to assaulting his ex-girlfriend on at least two occasions.
One of these incidents took place inside a hotel room in Aberdeen, where the violence escalated after a heated argument fueled by alcohol.
Witnesses and evidence presented in court revealed that Thomson, intoxicated at the time, chased his partner down a hotel corridor as she attempted to escape.
In a disturbing act of aggression, he dragged her back into the room by her hood, causing her skin to burn and restricting her breathing.
The assault did not end there; Thomson also caused property damage within the hotel room, smashing a curtain rail, a chair, and a toilet seat, and cracking the toilet bowl in the process.
Further incidents included an assault at a train station, where Thomson pushed his partner into nearby bushes, adding to the pattern of violence and intimidation.
The court heard that Thomson's actions were driven by underlying issues with alcohol and jealousy, which the judge acknowledged as contributing factors to his behavior.
Sheriff Ian Wallace addressed Thomson directly during sentencing, warning him that his problematic attitude towards women must be addressed.
The sheriff emphasized that if Thomson fails to make meaningful changes, he risks facing a prison sentence in the future.
As part of his punishment, Thomson was sentenced to a community payback order with supervision, requiring him to complete 280 hours of unpaid work.
Additionally, he was ordered to participate in a two-year domestic abuse program aimed at addressing the root causes of his violence.
To further protect his former partner, Thomson was issued a ten-year non-harassment order, which prohibits him from approaching or contacting her in any way.
During the court proceedings, Thomson expressed remorse for his actions, acknowledging the harm caused.
However, Sheriff Wallace underscored the importance of genuine change, warning that failure to do so could result in a jail term.
