ABERDEEN MAN PLACED ON SEX OFFENDERS' REGISTER FOR GROPING AT STRIP CLUB
A man has been placed on the sex offenders’ register after he groped a dancer at a strip club in Aberdeen.Scott Higgins, aged 37, appeared before Aberdeen Sheriff Court and admitted to sexually assaulting a woman at Number 7 Club located in the city centre.
In addition to the sexual assault, Higgins fell asleep at the bar and then threatened the door staff, saying he would 'slit their throat.' He also pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner towards staff.
According to court reports, the incident began when Higgins and the woman went to a private room at the club, where she removed her clothing.
The complainant explained that Higgins touched her breasts and backside with his hands despite her repeated requests for him to stop, citing the no-touching rule at the location.
She was forced to stop dancing when he continued to touch her against her protests.
Later, around 1.50 am, a club door steward found Higgins sitting at the bar, appearing to be falling asleep.
When asked to leave, Higgins threatened the doorman, saying, “there's going to be trouble here,” and further threatened to slit his throat.
Higgins was subsequently traced and arrested by police.
His actions were deemed serious, with the court emphasizing that sexual assault is a grave matter.
The defense pointed out that any offence involving sexual assault has serious, long-lasting consequences.
Sheriff William Summers postponed sentencing to allow for a social work report and ordered Higgins to be registered as a sex offender.
The court proceedings and outcomes highlight the severity of his offences.
