RYAN STEEHOUER SENTENCED IN ABERDEEN AFTER SERIOUS CRIMES
Ryan Steehouder, aged 33, was found guilty of multiple serious offences, including rape, assault to the danger of life, threatening or abusive behaviour, and sexual assault, relating to crimes committed in Aberdeen between 2011 and 2015.During his High Court trial in Edinburgh, the victim detailed how Steehouder raped her and described his behaviour as "violent, abusive and controlling." She also revealed that he told her, "it was a bit of a role play," and warned her not to scream or shout.
The woman recounted that Steehouder would physically grab, lift, and throw her, causing head and body injuries against walls and doors.
She further testified that he would lie on top of her, kick her, restrain her, and even choke her to the point of unconsciousness.
The court heard that Steehouder’s actions inflicted serious harm on her.
The judge, Lord Doherty, condemned his conduct as "violent, abusive and controlling." Despite maintaining his innocence, Steehouder was convicted in November and received a sentence of six years in prison.
Upon release, he will be under supervision for two years, will be on the sex offenders' register indefinitely, and is prohibited from contacting the victim.
It was also noted that Steehouder has a prior conviction from 2022, where he served 15 months for physically abusing another woman.
The judge highlighted that Steehouder has not accepted responsibility for his actions, showing little insight into the harm caused and raising concerns about his remorse.
