BOOTLE MAN SENTENCED TO 12 YEARS FOR MULTIPLE SEX OFFENCES
A man from Bootle has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after being convicted of multiple sexual offences committed against a woman between 2023 and 2024.
Ryan McDonnell, aged 27 and residing on Olivia Street, was found guilty last month and received his sentence at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday, 20 October.
The charges he was convicted of include four counts of rape, one count of Section 47 Assault causing Actual Bodily Harm, two counts of intentional strangulation, one count of controlling or coercive behaviour, and one count of sexual assault.
Detective Constable Benjamin Kelly, from the Sefton Protecting Vulnerable Persons Unit, which led the investigation, stated: “McDonnell is a violent and manipulative individual who now faces a lengthy prison term.
We hope this sentence offers some sense of justice to the victim and aids her recovery.
“Following a campaign of violence, abuse, and coercive control, McDonnell added to her trauma by forcing her to go through a trial—an appalling act that denied her justice for his reprehensible actions.”
