ABERDEEN SEX OFFENDER RYAN LEISK SENTENCED FOR CHILD ABUSE AND INDECENT IMAGES
In a case that has shocked the community of Aberdeen and the surrounding Aberdeenshire area, Ryan Leisk, a 32-year-old man with a disturbing history of sexual offenses, has been sentenced to four and a half years in prison for a series of heinous crimes involving children and indecent material.The court heard that Leisk’s predatory behavior began during his teenage years, with his first known victim being a seven-year-old girl who visited his residence when he was just 14 years old.
According to court records, Leisk engaged in inappropriate and sexual activities with the young girl, encouraging her to sit on his knee while she watched television.
She later described feeling uncomfortable and sore from his actions, which she said he tried to dismiss as 'fun.' The girl, now aged 24, recounted that Leisk also held her by her private parts and swung her around, actions she found distressing.
Her testimony painted a disturbing picture of Leisk’s early involvement in child abuse.
Leisk’s criminal conduct escalated when he was 17, targeting a second girl aged 12.
During this period, he exposed himself and engaged in sexual acts with her.
The court also heard that he called a 10-year-old boy into a room where he was engaged in sexual activity with a woman, which he then continued with the woman in front of the child.
This incident was part of a series of offenses that included Leisk engaging in sexual acts in front of a minor and with a woman while a young boy was present.
Police investigations revealed that Leisk was in possession of indecent images of children, which were recovered from his phone and computer.
Some of these images had been shared online, and messages were found where Leisk encouraged a woman to participate in sexual acts in the presence of a child.
One such message included the woman expressing her concern, saying, “I keep thinking this is what paedophiles do.” Leisk’s arrest in 2015 uncovered a cache of indecent photographs, and during the trial at the High Court in Edinburgh, he denied numerous charges.
Despite his denials, the jury found him guilty of two counts of indecency against girls committed between 2000 and 2004, as well as engaging in sexual activity with the woman in the presence of the boy in 2015.
He was also convicted of possessing and distributing indecent images of children between December 2014 and October 2015, and for breaching bail conditions.
However, he was acquitted on two other charges of indecency and sexual assault involving another girl, with the court recording not proven verdicts.
During sentencing, Lord Kinclaven emphasized that a custodial sentence was unavoidable, citing the severity of the crimes and the need to protect the public.
Although he acknowledged that the number of images involved was limited, he ordered Leisk to be placed on the sex offenders register.
The judge deferred sentencing to allow for background reports and continued to remand Leisk in custody until the sentencing hearing scheduled for July 4 at the High Court in Glasgow.
The case has left a lasting impact on the community, highlighting the ongoing threat posed by individuals like Leisk and the importance of vigilant law enforcement.
