A man from Duston, Northampton, named Ryan Johnson, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after being convicted of sexually assaulting a young girl.
Johnson, 31 years old, denied all allegations during his trial, but last month a jury found him guilty on four counts of child sex offences.
The court established that the assault occurred two years ago.
At his sentencing at Northampton Crown Court yesterday (February 11), Her Honour Judge Rebecca Crane addressed Johnson, stating: "Victim impact statements have shown how your victim now finds it hard to trust people.
It has affected her friendships.
Her mother says it has destroyed her confidence." The court was told that the young girl had messaged a friend following the incident, and this friend then informed the girl's mother about what had happened.
Johnson was sentenced to a term of 10 years and nine months in prison.
Additionally, he will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
