RYAN CONNOLLY FROM DONCASTER CAUGHT GROOMING UNDERAGE GIRLS ONLINE AGAIN
In a disturbing case that highlights the ongoing dangers of online grooming, Ryan Connolly, a resident of Doncaster, was found to have continued his inappropriate and illegal activities despite being on bail for similar offences.The Sheffield Crown Court heard how Connolly engaged in a series of predatory behaviors targeting underage girls through online chat platforms.
According to prosecutor Richard Sheldon, Connolly made explicit sexualized comments and sent graphic images to what he believed was a 12-year-old girl in June 2019.
This behavior was part of a pattern of grooming that led to his arrest.
Despite being released on bail, Connolly did not cease his activities.
Instead, he proceeded to contact a 14-year-old decoy, with whom he arranged to meet at Robin Hood Airport.
His plans were thwarted when police, along with vigilante groups known as paedophile hunters, confronted him at the airport in November 2019.
During his police interview at the station, Connolly expressed remorse, stating, “This is the second time.
I should have stopped.” His words underscored his awareness of his repeated misconduct.
However, his actions did not stop there.
While still on bail, he continued to contact other underage profiles, including a third in November 2019 and a fourth in June 2020.
His continued attempts to engage with minors culminated in his arrest in August 2020.
Ryan Connolly, aged 28 and residing at Manor Farm Court in Doncaster, pleaded guilty to a total of nine charges.
These included attempted sexual communication with children, attempting to engage a child in sexual activity, and attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming.
The offences spanned from April 2019 to June 2020, revealing a sustained pattern of predatory behavior.
Judge Sarah Wright addressed Connolly directly, warning him about the dangers of online interactions.
She emphasized the importance of avoiding chat rooms and social media contacts with strangers, especially children.
Her stern warning was clear: failure to comply could result in a lengthy prison sentence.
As part of her sentencing, she imposed a three-year community order, which includes 35 sessions on a sexual offenders' rehabilitation program and up to 60 days of additional rehabilitation activities.
Furthermore, Connolly was subject to a ten-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for the same duration.
These measures are designed to monitor and restrict his contact with minors, aiming to prevent any future harm.
The case serves as a stark reminder of the persistent threat posed by online predators and the importance of vigilance in protecting vulnerable children from exploitation.
