RYAN STEWART FROM DONCASTER JAILED FOR SEXUAL AFFAIRS WITH SCHOOLGIRLS IN DONCASTER

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Doncaster, a 25-year-old teaching assistant named Ryan Stewart has been sentenced to nearly three years in prison for engaging in a series of inappropriate and illegal sexual relationships with students at a local school. The court proceedings revealed a pattern of misconduct that spanned over several months, involving multiple underage girls from the same educational institution.

According to court records, Stewart, who worked as a maths coach, began his illicit activities shortly after joining the school. His first known victim was a 17-year-old sixth-form student. The relationship reportedly started through online conversations on social media platforms such as MySpace and MSN Messenger. These digital chats eventually led to physical meetings, during which Stewart and the girl engaged in sexual activities. One such encounter took place in her parents’ home while they were away, and others occurred in Stewart’s parked car. The girl later confided in police that she had warned Stewart about the risk of losing his job, expressing regret and feeling foolish for her involvement. She admitted that Stewart’s words made her feel special, despite knowing that their relationship was inappropriate.

Following the end of this relationship, Stewart quickly moved on to another student, a 15-year-old girl from the same school. Over a period of six weeks, the pair engaged in sexual encounters on three separate occasions—twice in Stewart’s car and once in his parents’ house. The court heard that the younger girl considered Stewart her boyfriend and was both shocked and flattered by his attention. Prosecutors described how Stewart, who used the online alias “Mr E. Man,” also sent flirtatious emails to another schoolgirl, calling her “adorable” and “little cutie pie,” and inviting her to join him in the shower to scrub his back.

During police interviews, Stewart admitted to enjoying his time with the 15-year-old but claimed he did not love her and was unaware that his actions with the 17-year-old were wrong. His legal representative, Michael Upson, expressed regret over Stewart’s conduct, stating that he had lost his good character in a dramatic fashion and that the defendant would likely be unable to continue working as a teaching assistant in the future, having already lost his position at the school.

Stewart faced multiple charges, including five counts of sexual activity with the 17-year-old and nine counts involving the 15-year-old. He also faced allegations of sexual activity with two other girls aged 14 and 15, both students at the same school, but he pleaded not guilty to these additional charges, which remain on file.

Judge John Reddihough addressed Stewart directly during sentencing, emphasizing the gravity of his misconduct. He stated, “You knew what you were doing was wholly unacceptable and wrong yet you persisted in your relationship with each of them. It has to be made clear that people who are teachers and in positions of trust will be punished for these types of offences.”

It was also revealed that Stewart was suspended from his duties in December 2007 after pupils reported his inappropriate behaviour to school authorities. Doncaster Council’s director of children’s services, Dr. Paul Gray, confirmed that Stewart was suspended following these allegations, which ultimately led to his arrest and subsequent conviction. The community and educational authorities have expressed their concern over the breach of trust and the serious implications of Stewart’s actions, which have left a lasting impact on the victims and their families.
