Russell Jordan

Newbury Sexual Abuser

September 2018 Drug dealing paedophile jailed after going on the run in Asia for 18 months A man who hid memory sticks full of child porn behind a cornice and fled to Thailand after he found notes on his door telling him “you’re a dead paedo” has been jailed. Police raided Russell Jordan’s home and found thousands of wraps of cannabis and tens of thousands of pounds in cash. Officers also removed the cove cornering and found the concealed memory sticks which had thousands of sick images and videos of children on them. The 48-year-old, then managed to sell his home in Bartholomew Street, Newbury, Berkshire, and went on the run for 18 months, shortly after being arrested and bailed by investigating officers. He was eventually arrested in Hong Kong and extradited to the UK after spending time with a woman he had befriended online and travelling around south east Asia. On Monday, September 17, Jordan, of no fixed abode, was jailed for two years and six months at Reading Crown Court. Richard Witcombe, prosecuting, told the court in Reading, Berkshire that police raided Jordan’s home on Thursday, August 1, 2016 and found 6,000 bags of wrapped skunk cannabis weighing almost half a kilo behind kitchen kickers and behind a water tank in a communal area as well as three sets of scales. Bundles of cash totalling more and £21,000 pounds were found in three separate locations, some of which was stuffed into the arm of an armchair. Mr Witcombe said: “In a panel above the coving in the living area was a hard drive, a memory card and a computer tower. “On examination the indecent images of children were discovered.” In all, almost 15,000 images were discovered, with 173 images and videos classified as the most serious and another 128 in the category B classification with the majority in the Category C band. Jordan admitted three counts of possessing the indecent images including one charge of possession of extreme porn which showed sex with an animal. He also admitted possession of a Class B drug cannabis with intent to supply, possession of criminal property worth more than £21,000 pounds. Jordan sat emotionless in the dock as Mr Witcombe revealed he had been jailed in the last 10 years for both possession of indecent images of children and possession of cannabis with intent to supply. Sentencing, Judge Ian Grainger said his previous offences were an aggravating factor. He ordered Jordan be placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register indefinitely and he was made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which forbids access to the internet, until a judge allowed him back online.
