ABERDEEN MAN GETS SUPERVISION ORDER FOR ASSAULT IN GRAVEYARD
A man has been given a supervision order after he assaulted and knocked his ex’s new boyfriend unconscious in a city center graveyard.
The incident occurred after a "chance meeting" in St Nicholas graveyard, just off Union Street.
The offender, Ruaraidh Hutchison, aged 45, confronted the man with whom his ex, who was subject to a non-harassment order prohibiting contact, had been with.
During an argument about alcohol, Hutchison lashed out and delivered a punch that rendered the victim unconscious, after which he continued punching him on the ground.
The victim sustained a 1cm laceration on the bridge of his nose and superficial cuts to his cheek.
Hutchison admitted to assault and breaching a non-harassment order in Aberdeen Sheriff Court.
The court ordered Hutchison to be supervised for two years and imposed a five-month curfew.
The assault was described as triggered after the victim verbally challenged Hutchison during an altercation involving alcohol and intoxication, with defense highlighting Hutchison’s alcohol and drug issues at the time.
